ABOUT THE FLYNN

The Flynn Center for the Performing Arts is Northern New England’s premiere performing arts center. The Flynn offers a wide range of cultural and educational experiences and nurtures the creative development of performing artists. Our facilities include a 1,411-seat proscenium auditorium (Flynn Main Stage), a 180-seat black box cabaret space (Flynn Space), two education studios, a gallery with rotating exhibits of regional artists, and adjoining lobbies.

The Flynn hosts over 200 performances and over 50 camps and classes annually. Regularly scheduled performances include the Flynn season, which features world-class music, Broadway, theater, dance, and family performances on our Main Stage, with additional touring shows added throughout the year and weekday matinees presented through our Student Matinee Series, in addition to the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival. The Flynn also provides a performance venue for the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, the Vermont Youth Orchestra, Lyric Theatre, and other local arts organizations.

Basic Function

The part-time graphic designer will design and implement print and web solutions to support the Flynn’s marketing department.


Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design promotional materials (ads, playbills, posters, member magazine)
  • Help maintain Flynn brand standards and develop new materials based on new guidelines
  • Contribute design elements for Flynn website redesign
  • Guide work of others, such as photographers, as needed
  • Conceptualize and design for a wide variety of projects such as show promotion, fundraising appeals, education classes, and more
  • Provide and present design option with clear recommendations for preferred design approach
  • Perform other duties as necessary.


Supervision Received

Supervision is received from the Manager of Marketing and Communications.


Qualifications

  • BA or BFA in graphic design or related field or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years experience in design field
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign) and proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Sound understand of, interest in, and enthusiasm for the mission center of Flynn preferred
  • Ability to collaborate and act as an integral part of a team
  • Ability to work autonomously
