Teaching artist

FLYNN CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS, LTD.


Basic Function

The Flynn seeks experienced, enthusiastic teaching artists to lead classes and camps, and to work with the Flynn to bring arts to schools and other community settings. Working closely with the Education Programs Manager, Teaching Artists work to create engaging, arts-focused lessons for community members of all ages.


Successful candidates for this role will bring:

  • Previous work experience as a teaching artist or performing arts teacher, including formulating lesson plans, and the ability to diversify instruction to support a variety of learners 
  • Knowledge and skill in at least one artistic discipline 
  • Excitement for teaching in the arts; ability to cultivate creativity and enthusiasm for the arts in others 
  • A commitment to providing broad access to the arts  
  • Professional demeanor with students, families, and staff
