Our Show Choir program focuses on the synthesis of skills in dance, voice, and acting, inspiring students to reach their highest potential while building community and making friends. The program focuses on artistic collaboration between students and faculty to create high-quality performance pieces for the virtual stage.
Junior Show Choir (ages 8-12): The perfect talent incubator for performers who aspire to be triple threats. Material is suited to developing skills and potential.
Teen Show Choir (ages 13-19*): Students will have the opportunity to challenge themselves with thoughtful and complex material in all three art forms - dancing, singing, and acting, while continuing to build a solid performance foundation.
* High School Class of 2020: the Flynn recognizes that COVID-19 may have affected your fall plans, so we have extended the Show Choir age limit this year to include you. Taryn and Jen have some fun plans for our older teens this year, so you won’t want to miss this opportunity!
Auditions: Students are asked to submit an audition video by 9/16. We hold auditions to help us get to know students and to place them in small groups and solos throughout the semester. But don’t worry - all interested students will be accepted in our program unless we meet our maximum capacity. Your audition video should include you reading a brief selection from a script (a 'side'), singing the musical selection, and dancing the audition choreography.
Rehearsals: Saturdays, September 19-December 12 (no class 11/28) • Performances: Mid-semester Showcase (October), End of semester Showcase (December), and a final video project. Dates & times TBA.
Rehearsal schedule:
*Rehearsals may run longer later on in the semester
