Join us on June 3 to celebrate the start of the 2022 Burlington Discover Jazz Festival. We're holding a kick-off fundraiser in the Flynn's Main Stage Lobby to mark another exciting week of events all over Downtown Burlington. This is also a wonderful opportunity to meet and welcome our festival curators Michael Mwenso and Jono Gasparro. This event features live music by saxophonist Ruben Fox. Refreshments and hors d'oeuvres will be served. Cost to register is $50 and your donation goes directly to supporting future Burlington Discover Jazz Festival programming. Raise a glass to 10 days of community events and incredible live music.
After this fundraiser event, the festival will be underway, starting with the brilliant presentation of The Sound of (Black) Music on the Main Stage. Tickets for this show are on sale now.
Thank you to our festival co-chairs Leslie McCrorey Wells and Jeff Davis.
Ruben Fox is one of the brightest young stars on the jazz scene. Noted for his rich sound, tasteful compositions and sensitive ballad playing, Fox has performed with legends such as Wynton Marsalis, Barry Harris, Jon Batiste, George Coleman, Roy Hargrove, and Johnny O’Neill. He is also associated with many great artists of his generation, Mwenso & the Shakes, Jon Batiste, Russell Hall, Reuben James, Mark Kavuma, and Emmet Cohen to name a few. Ruben is also the Artistic Director of carnival youth group Kinetika Bloco, a group that was founded in 2001 by his father and has now impacted the lives of hundreds of young people in inner city London.
