2023 Burlington Discover Jazz Festival

Guagua

Waterfront Park

About

The word “guagua” means “bus,” and the music will take you on a panoramic ride through Cuban and Brazillian grooves and melodies. The band plays all original music featuring danceable and infectious percussion, triumphant horns, and spirited piano and guitar. Guagua's original psychotropical jazz blends guitar, piano, and horn melodies with tropical African, Caribbean, and Brazilian polyrhythms. Since its inception in 2004, the Burlington-based band has played oodles of shows, recorded three acclaimed albums, and held down a monthly gig at Radio Bean.

  • Connor Young: trumpet
  • Shane Hardiman: keyboard
