About

Looking to have some fun and hone your musical skills this summer? Make some friends, play your favorite songs, and learn something new in Modern Band! This intermediate level pop-rock band is open to students entering grades 8-12 with at least one school year of experience on their instrument. In this course, students work closely with the instructor to identify and select songs as well as learn how to write their own songs.

Special attention is given to building musical skills to support students in improvising and performing with stylistic accuracy. Students learn how to lead themselves in a productive and collaborative rehearsal to develop covers and create their own songs. This is a great opportunity for intermediate students to build a solid musical foundation and begin preparing for Vermont’s All State Honors Modern Band audition.

The week will culminates in a final performance in Flynn Space.
