Ring in the New Year at the Flynn with an evening dedicated to the bright lights and big city brio of Broadway. Lyric Theatre Company and the Vermont Symphony Orchestra unite for this star-studded annual tradition, lovingly reimagining Golden Age standards and contemporary classics, and showcasing Vermont's finest singers and musicians. As the community comes together to turn the page on another year, the Flynn Main Stage erupts with epic show tunes on a night to remember.

Kerstin Anderson, Host

Vermont native, Lyric Theatre, Flynn Theater, Bill Reed Voice Studio, and Spotlight on Dance Alum! Kerstin Anderson was a sophomore at Pace University in New York City when she auditioned for Jock O’Brien who cast her as Maria von Trapp in his production of The Sound of Music, the North American tour.

Kerstin returned to New York and made her Broadway debut in Lincoln Center Theater’s production of My Fair Lady, as the alternate Eliza Doolittle, directed by Bartlett Sher. Pre-pandemic she made her off-Broadway debut in Playwrights Horizon’s production of Unknown Soldier, directed by Trip Cullman. The cast recording of Unknown Soldier is available on all streaming platforms. She is thrilled to be back home with her Dad and first theatre-family to ring in the New Year!

Benjamin Klemme, Conductor

Recognized for inspiring musicians and audience members alike through performances with a distinct synthesis of artistic excellence and community engagement, conductorBENJAMIN KLEMMEis a member of the Department of Music faculty at Gordon College, where he leads the Gordon Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Band, and teaches courses in conducting and artistic collaboration. 

Previously Klemme has served the Quad City Symphony Orchestra as Associate Conductor, as well as the Cleveland Pops and National Repertory Orchestras as Assistant Conductor, and has appeared as guest conductor with the Minnesota Orchestra, Vermont Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Pops Orchestra, National Repertory Orchestra, and Burlington Chamber Orchestra. 

Klemme's passion for and commitment to music education are displayed through his work both on and off the podium. As Director of Education and Community Engagement at the Quad City Symphony Orchestra, he connected area community members with opportunities to hear, perform, and engage with orchestral music in traditional and innovative contexts. In New Mexico, he helped bring classical music to life as Artistic Advisor and Outreach Concert Host for the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival's "Music In Our Schools" program. In Ohio he co-founded the Scordatura Chamber Orchestra, an ensemble designed to support classroom learning objectives. He has also led nationally recognized youth orchestra programs in the Southwest, Midwest, and New England.

The Flynn requires proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test from all ticket holders before entering the theater. Please note that we do not accept at-home tests. All attendees must wear a mask while inside the venue. The Flynn requires all its staff, crew, and volunteers to be vaccinated.
