Join Shidaa Projects for West African drumming and dance workshops! Led by Ghanaian drummer Jordan Mensah and dancer Samuel Maama Marquaye, these workshops for 5-10 year olds and their caregivers will feature percussion, movement, and cultural celebrations of Ghana and West Africa.
Shidaa Projects, Inc. is a Vermont based non-profit organization focused on cultural education and diversity through sharing West African dances, drumming and other activities. They do this in two ways; first by conducting workshops and residencies in schools, and second by dance drumming performances in community spaces.
Their workshops and performances include drumming, dance, fabric printing using Adinkra symbols, drum making, beading, and cooking. These activities are created to include participants of all ages. They aim to support diversity projects that will foster cultural awareness that helps students and community members become better citizens with more empathy and understanding.
Every third Thursday, join us at FlynnZONE for FREE evenings of hands-on arts experiences designed for 5-10 year olds and their caregivers to learn, create, and explore together. Each session features engaging classes or workshops led by local and visiting artists, offering families a fun and welcoming space to connect and grow through creativity.
