About VYO Jazz Program

The VYOA Jazz Program brings together Vermont's finest high school jazz musicians for an immersive season of playing, improvising, and performing alongside some of the region's top jazz educators. Students work in both combo and big band settings, building the ensemble skills, musical fluency, and creative confidence that define great jazz performance.

At My Heart Sings, VYOA Jazz students take the Flynn Main Stage alongside Jason Moran and the Vermont Youth Orchestra putting Vermont's next generation of jazz musicians at the center of one of the festival's signature nights.

The program is led by Director Kyle Saulnier and is a program of the Vermont Youth Orchestra Association, based at the Elley-Long Music Center in Colchester. Financial aid is available for all qualifying families.
